Purpose of the Club

HMS Conway Motor Club exists to bring together Old Conways, their families and others with a genuine Conway connection who share an interest in cars, motorcycles, motorhomes and other interesting vehicles, and to provide a place for members to exchange information, stories, photographs and experience.

HMSCMC is intended to be informal, friendly and practical. These rules are intended to keep it that way.

Club Membership

Membership is open to Old Conways, Family Members and Associate Members with a genuine connection to HMS Conway or the wider Conway community.

Membership applications are reviewed before approval. Once approved, the member’s HMSCMC account provides access to the members-only parts of the website, including the Forum.

Forum Access

HMSCMC members are entitled to use the Club Forum, but participation in the Forum is optional.

The same HMSCMC account is used for both membership access and the Forum. There is no separate Forum registration or second login.

Accounts are personal to the member and may not be transferred or shared with another person.

Conduct

Members and Forum users are expected to treat one another with reasonable courtesy. Disagreement is perfectly acceptable; flaming, personal abuse, harassment, intimidation or deliberately disruptive behaviour is not.

Robust language may occasionally occur in normal conversation, but persistent or gratuitous bad language, especially when directed at another person, is not acceptable.

Material that is unlawful, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, obscene or intended to provoke or harass other users may be removed.

Forum Posts

Forum users are responsible for what they post. Please make a reasonable effort to keep posts relevant to the Forum in which they appear and avoid repeatedly posting the same material.

Moderators may move, edit, close or remove posts where reasonably necessary to keep discussions usable, protect users or administer the Forum.

Technical Advice

Advice offered by members reflects their own knowledge and experience. HMSCMC does not guarantee that technical advice posted on the Forum is correct or suitable for a particular vehicle or circumstance.

Members remain responsible for deciding whether work is within their competence and for obtaining professional advice where appropriate.

Photographs and Other Material

Please only upload photographs, articles or other material that you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise entitled to publish.

By submitting material for publication on the HMSCMC website or Forum, you give the Club permission to display it as part of the website and its normal Club activities. Ownership of the original material remains with its owner.

Do not publish another person’s private information without their permission.

Buying, Selling and Commercial Posts

Genuine private sales, wanted notices and recommendations are welcome where relevant.

Unsolicited advertising, repetitive commercial promotion, spam and misleading sales material may be removed.

Moderation and Accounts

The administrator may remove material, restrict posting or suspend or close an account where reasonably necessary to protect the Club, its members, Forum users or the operation of the website.

Where practical, problems will normally be dealt with informally first. Serious abuse, spam, security threats or unlawful material may be acted upon immediately.

Privacy

Use of the website and Forum is also subject to the HMSCMC Privacy Policy.

Changes to these rules

These rules may be amended as HMSCMC develops. The current version will always be published on this page.
